Speaker
Details
Paul Chirik, Edwards S. Sanford Professor of Chemistry, will present “Re-Imagining the Periodic Table: Sustainability Challenges in the 21st Century” in Guyot Hall, Room 10, and online via Zoom. Chirik is the second speaker in the spring 2023 HMEI Faculty Seminar Series.
What is your elemental footprint? The number of elements, where they come from and the amount energy required to mine and purify an element, determines the sustainability of your lifestyle in ways that most people do not appreciate. Chirik will explore how everyday products determine how you interact with the periodic table and how his research lab is focused on a more sustainable lifestyle.
This seminar is free and open to the public with registration. Lunch will be available in the Guyot Atrium at noon. All attendees can register here in advance to attend this event via Zoom livestream.
