Geosciences graduate student Fairuz Ishraque named the UCAR Next Generation Science Fellow for 2024. As a part of this fellowship, over the next two years, Ishraque will be collaborating with scientists at the NCAR Climate and Global Dynamics Lab to reconstruct the ice flow and climate history of Allan Hills, Antarctica. This work will serve as an addendum to his current Allan Hills ice core Ph.D. research under Professor of Geosciences John Higgins.

UCAR is a nonprofit consortium of more than 120 colleges and universities in North America that focus on research and training in Earth system science. This program explores the complexities between scientific research, diversity and inclusion, and public policy, while highlighting research in Earth Sciences. UCAR’s leaders will also direct Ishraque with professional development and leadership opportunities. NCAR is a center of research excellence in Earth system science sponsored by the National Science Foundation.
