First-year graduate student, Kyle Samperton, attending Geochronology Workshop at UCLA

Feb. 24, 2011

First-year Graduate Student, Kyle Samperton, is participating in an NSF-funded Geochronology workshop at UCLA for the week. The focus is on understanding all aspects pertaining to secondary ion mass spectrometry, also known by its acronym SIMS. This competitive workshop consists of graduate student participants from all over the United States and one student from the United Kingdom. The intent of Kyle's participation is to assist in bridging the proverbial gap between the analytical technique emphasized at UCLA (SIMS) with that which we are currently in the process of installing at Princeton, known as TIMS (thermal ionization mass spectrometry), in addition to building an appreciation for the power and advantages of SIMS analyses.

If you would like more information on this activity, please contact Kyle Samperton at [email protected].
