McMurdo Dry Valley, Antarctic
Associate Research Scholar Maggie Lau was part of an international collaboration led by the University of Waikato. Their aimed ultimate aim is to study the terrestrial biocomplexity of the McMurdo Dry Valleys.
Other scientists participating were from the University of Waikato (New Zealand), Auckland University of Technology (New Zealand), the University of Canterbury (New Zealand), U.S. Geological Survey (USA) and St. Francis Xavier University (Canada). Lau shared these astounding landscape pics post-trip while awaiting a flight out of New Zealand.
Lau's research interests include environmental metagenomics; molecular microbial ecology and evolution; extremophiles; aerobiology; physiology and adaptation to environmental stress. She is a member of the Geomicrobiology Research Group.
