Return on Information - New Jersey (RIO-NJ) has named Professor Laure Resplandy, along with others, a 2024 RIO-NJ Influencer for Environment. RIO-NJ is a new media company with a goal to connect New Jersey businesses with information that will better their investment decisions. The RIO-NJ Influencers series nominates people from all over the state who work in 16 industries, such as Higher Education, Energy, Technology, etc., every year. They also publish a power list called the “Super 60” with some of the most influential people that run New Jersey industries.

RIO-NJ encapsulates the news and tries to inform New Jersey's more diverse business communities. They also facilitate meaningful engagement between businesses and influencers. It's not hard to imagine why RIO-NJ is presenting Dr. Resplandy as an influential person regarding environmental issues.

Dr. Resplandy is a biogeochemical oceanographer, a groundbreaking climate scientist, and an ocean modeler. She studies climate change, ocean chemistry and ocean ecosystems, leading fundamental discoveries about the fate of carbon dioxiode in our planet, the response of oxygen in the ocean to changing climate, and the ability of the ocean to store heat and carbon. Dr. Resplandy's research is crucial to understanding the future of our planet and the fate of life in the oceans.

RIO-NJ is looking at the local impact that Dr. Resplandy has. She is committed to educating the next generation of students to become informed, sustainably minded citizens and leaders. In 2024, Dr. Resplandy developed and started to oversee the Princeton’s Climate Science Minor at the Department of Geosciences and at the High Meadows Environmental Institute and is the lead researcher involved with the Princeton QUEST teacher prep program. QUEST is a summer educational program for New Jersey STEM K-12 educators where they learn from scientists who are conducting cutting-edge research in their field. By helping teachers understand the latest climate science and how to incorporate it into their classrooms, Dr. Resplandy has supported the education of thousands of NJ students. Learn more about QUEST and hear a clip of Dr. Resplandy in this NJ Spotlight News piece.

Congratulations to Dr. Resplandy from everyone at Geosciences Princeton University.
